Town & Country Drug Detection Dogs have been trained in Home Office accredited police-dog training centres alongside regular Police dog handlers at the regional Dog Training Unit.

Our dogs and handlers are licensed for Passive Drug Detection Scanning and Pro-Active search methods. All receive fully documented continuation training and attend refresher courses to ensure their high standards are constantly maintained. We operate dogs in two ways:
Passive Scanning Drug Dogs:
The role of these Passive drug dogs is one of detecting the presence of drugs on the Human Resource.
This can be accomplished in many ways. The Handler works his or her dog on a lead and harness.
- The dog can work static lines of people, static groups of people either sitting or standing. Or moving lines of people.
- The handler with his or her dog, walks in and out of the groups, without any bodily contact, by the dog, with the human resource.
The dog will indicate the presence of any drugs on a person, by sitting in front of that person. The handler will then notify the appropriate police or security officer present. All handlers are accredited and licensed.
Pro-Active Area Detection Drug Dogs:
The role of these dogs is one of detecting the presence of drugs in the area that you want searching. It may be a room, corridor, vehicle, field etc either outdoors or internal.
The dog works to the command of the handler on or off lead and will indicate the presence of drugs by giving a passive indication at the hide. As with body scanning, dog the handler will notify the police or security.
